Gotha around 1800: Nature – Science – History
Project activities and results
The handwritten estate of Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and the related holdings were cataloged at the Gotha Research Library, including the estate of the astronomer Franz Xaver Zachs at both the Gotha Research Library and Thuringian State Archives – Gotha State Archive. The results are being made available in the national joint catalog Kalliope.
At the Gotha Research Centre, Factgrid was established to further advance Gotha research on the Illuminati and a citizen science focus was created to promote the collaboration with citizens as part of “Gotha around 1800.”
At the Friedenstein Castle Foundation, geological collections were processed, especially the objects in the Mineralogical Collection that originated from the Gotha mineralogist Karl Ernst Adolf von Hoff.
Gotha.digital emerged as a digital project from the Gotha Collection and Research Association.
