Indexing the correspondence and personal documents of Veit Ludwig von Seckendorff (1626–1692)
The scholar and statesman Veit Ludwig von Seckendorff is considered one of the most important representatives of the European Republic of Letters in the early modern period. He is regarded as the founder of modern, scientifically based administrative theory, and is a prominent figure in Christian state theory and Protestant church history.
The project will make Seckendorff’s correspondence and life documents available online in the Kalliope Union Catalogue. For the first time, these materials, which are scattered across numerous archives and libraries, will be made available to researchers in a systematic and coherent manner. Seckendorff’s broad network reflects his active participation in a variety of political, legal, theological, and general scholarly discourses. The project will therefore provide new impulses for the source-based interdisciplinary study of Seckendorff.
