"Born out of Franco-British rivalry, the Holker album is a volume containing 115 textile swatches collected during a secret mission to Britain in 1751 by the Lancashire textile manufacturer turned French spy, John Holker. Now held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, this unique and fragile manuscript is best known for including some of the oldest surviving examples of jean fabric.
